Bacon, Cheddar & Onion Stuffed Burger

From the Kitchen of Home of Cooks

Time to Prepare: 15 minutes Cook Time: 20 minutes Serving: 4 People

Ingredients

1 ½ pounds ground chuck (85/15) 1 clove garlic, minced 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional) salt and freshly ground black pepper ½ onion, chopped 4 strips bacon, diced 1 cup grated cheddar cheese 4 burger buns Lettuce, tomato, pickles for garnish Cooking Method

  1. In a bowl combine beef, garlic, hot sauce, salt and pepper to taste.

  2. Portion the meat into 4 equal balls.

  3. Warm a skillet over medium heat and fry bacon until crispy. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Sauté onions in bacon fat in a skillet until tender, about 4-5 minutes.

  4. Place onions and bacon into a bowl with the cheddar cheese. Mix together until well incorporated.

  5. Make a hole in the center of each ball and pack about 1 tablespoon of bacon-cheese mixture into each hole. Form the meat around it and then squish the patties down to form 1 inch thick burgers. Refrigerate for about 10 minutes to firm up.

  6. Grill burgers over medium-high heat, flipping once until desired doneness is reached, approximately 4 minutes each side for medium.

  7. Serve in buns with garnishes.

HELPFUL TIPS

We used ground chuck (85/15) for a juicer burger but you can use ground sirloin or ground beef of your choice.
